WakeMed Selects RelyMD to Provide Telemedicine Services for Its New Virtual Urgent Care

RALEIGH, N.C. – (September 12, 2019) – RelyMD, North Carolina’s only independent virtual healthcare provider, is partnering with WakeMed – the largest health system in Wake County – to power its new telemedicine service, WakeMed Virtual Urgent Care. WakeMed Virtual Urgent Care connects patients with a local board-certified emergency medicine specialist, family medicine physician or certified nurse practitioner using RelyMD’s proven telemedicine platform and technology.

WakeMed Virtual Urgent Care provides 24/7 access to highly trained healthcare providers for patients ages six months and up via video consultation on a mobile application or web browser with an average wait time of less than 10 minutes. RelyMD is staffed by Wake Emergency Physicians, PA (WEPPA), a group of more than 150 providers who staff WakeMed’s seven Emergency Departments across Wake County. The service is offered at a $45 flat rate fee to patients residing in or visiting North Carolina.

“While technology has greatly enhanced the reach and convenience of care, we believe that healthcare is best delivered locally and that’s why we’re so excited to partner with WakeMed for its new telemedicine service,” said David Levin, CEO of RelyMD. “WakeMed is ensuring its community will see providers who not only reside in the Triangle, but who also are already familiar with WakeMed’s network and patients.”

“The partnership between WakeMed and WEPPA has always been an exceptional one, and we are pleased to work together with RelyMD to bring WakeMed Virtual Urgent care to patients and communities across the state, providing more access and options for high-quality, convenient care,” said Debra Laughery, vice president of Marketing & Communications for WakeMed. “RelyMD’s technology integrates directly with WakeMed’s EHR system, ensuring seamless care and patient continuity, making the entire healthcare experience easier for everyone involved.”

WakeMed Virtual Urgent Care is able to see patients regarding a variety of common conditions, including: abdominal cramps, allergies, arthritic pain, mild asthma, bronchitis, cold and flu, constipation, diarrhea, eye infections, fever, gout, headache, hemorrhoids, insect bites, muscle paints, rashes and more. The service is accessible by downloading the WakeMed Virtual Urgent Care app for free in the App Store for iOS or Google Play for Android or by visiting wakemed.org/virtual-urgent-care to sign up.
