Appalachian Regional Healthcare System and RelyMD to Provide Remote Screening for COVID-19 Paired with Conditional Testing
DURHAM, N.C. – (March 18, 2020) – RelyMD, a digital health company that provides coordinated telemedicine has partnered with Appalachian Regional Healthcare System to serve the health system’s patients and surrounding High Country community with on-demand virtual COVID-19 screenings.
The RelyMD telehealth platform, staffed by credentialed physicians and advanced practice professionals, allows patients with flu or coronavirus-like symptoms to be assessed and triaged for testing, alleviating unnecessary exposure to the virus by patients and healthcare providers.
The health system will leverage the RelyMD technology and providers to advance the screening, triaging, testing process for patients who meet testing criteria based on CDC and WHO guidelines. As a unique solution, qualifying patients will first receive a rapid flu test via drive-through testing capabilities. Patients who test negative for flu will automatically move on to COVID-19 testing through the same on-site, distanced protocols.
Through a series of COVID-19 Rapid Response workflows developed by RelyMD, ARHS patients will have additional access to the RelyMD platform for surveillance of worsening symptoms, no matter their test results. For COVID-19 positive patients, access to the telehealth service allows for continued assistance during the required quarantine period and guidance to in-person care, coordinated through proper channels for minimal exposure. For those experiencing illness not related to the virus, RelyMD physicians will provide at-home care to encourage social distancing and can provide prescriptions to pharmacies of choice for unrelated conditions.
